Claims FAQs
Promptly report the injury/occupational disease to your employer. Your employer should report to Key Risk or ask you to call: 1.866.697.0710 (English); 1.866.787.2810 (Spanish). Click here for more information.
A claims professional will typically contact you, your employer and any medical providers within 24 hours. They will evaluate your claim, determine & explain your benefits, and make arrangements for medical treatment and any payments. Your claims professional or a nurse case manager will also update your employer on your medical and return to work status.
A Claim Acknowledgement letter will be mailed. Your employer will also receive notice of your claim number.
The processing of lost time benefits depends on the receipt of disability slips from the treating physician. It is important to submit all disability slips to your employer and claims professional as soon as possible.

Medical bills are paid by the workers compensation carrier. In the event you receive a bill, please forward to the claims professional.
Utilize the First Fill Prescription card for your first prescription. This card can be obtained from your employer or claims professional assigned to your claim. A prescription card will be sent if there is a need for ongoing prescriptions.
Forward the bill to the Key Risk claim professional. The claim professional will forward the bill on for processing.
No, benefits paid under workers compensation are not taxable income.
